Hi, I am Batcho Katumbo

Welcome to my platform, a space for thoughtful reflection and meaningful dialogue on the opportunities and decisions shaping Namibia’s future.

About Me

I am Batchotep Katumbo, a Namibian medical doctor and agriculturalist by training, and a writer by conviction.

Politics affects every facet of society, whether it is the price of bread at your local tuckshop or the broader policies that shape our country. For this reason, I reflect deeply on politics and how it impacts the daily experiences of Namibians.

Today, I work in the public health sector, but beyond the hospital walls, I write to challenge myself, provoke debate, and push for meaningful change. My goal is to inspire debates that matter.

My Areas of Focus

Through my writing, I attempt to address these key areas that shape Namibian society.

Healthcare

Advocating for equity, accountability, and systemic reform in Namibian society.

Politics & Governance

Analyzing policies and governance systems that impact development and public welfare in Namibia.

Sports & Youth

Addressing the economic and systemic barriers hindering sports development for Namibian youth.

My Recent Articles

My thoughts on Namibian politics, healthcare, and social justice

GDP Growth, Poverty Unchanged

GDP may be a useful indicator of economic activity, but it is an incomplete measure of national wellbeing. It tells us how much a country produces, but not how that wealth is distributed, nor who ultimately benefits from it.
